If you go looking for a friend, you’re going to find they’re very scarce. If you go out to be a friend, you’ll find them everywhere.

It is time for my Creative Chaos Consultant PUSU for 2010! I did not formally declare PUSU last year. My original declaration was after attending the first HRevolution and the beginning of my blog HRBaconHut.com which is coming up on its one year anniversary. Before that I was a hack blogger (shhh really I was, ask Steve B.). Connections on twitter, HRevolution and some bacon buttons were game changers.
#1 Continue the Content Cheerleading and go Local
So this is where I am supposed to say I will commit to blog. Duh! Yep, I’ll write about bacon, my real-world HR in the trenches and about what YOU are doing that inspires me. So, with hope, I inspire others. But, I need to do more. My SHRM membership has expired. There is all this blah blah blah about SHRM National. I think it is time to go local. More bang for the buck and worthy goal to make more of an effort to reach out to my local SHRM. I also want to make an effort to network with local social media people and do more to promote my non-profit work along with local music and art professionals that are doing great things in Nashville as well as nationally. Will get back to you on that. Will probably need help! Guest posts would be cool too.
#2 Comment, Comment, Comment
Commenting on blogs and tweeting in real time during broadcasts is where I feel I have value. I want to do more commenting, read more blogs, validate your thoughts, learn from what you are doing and ask more questions, use Linked In more. This is beyond HR; reaching out and tweeting about all types of people that are doing cool things online. And if I let you in my Facebook stream, you’ll see more personal than work. That is just how I roll.
#3 Commitment to Share, Educate, and Collaborate
I will continue to share my design talents and information streams to be a people promotor online and offline. I will continue to educate myself about HR as I manage my company as well as educate myself on the needs of HR in recognition, team building, personal branding and motivation. I am a social media enthusiast, pure and simple. I embrace that my role in HR is still evolving since I am not a practitioner, just a business owner with HR issues.
But, There Has to Be More?
I love HR & social media because I am motivated by people. Every interaction and point of view leads me to divergently think about how we can work together to move companies and organizations to recognize the power of digital tools and the people behind them. It is all about people. It is a myth that the digital world will remove people from the equation. I want (us) to educate business leaders that it is just the opposite.
I also need to do a better job helping people connect to my online brand and define why I run with you HR people online. After reading a @talentculture blog post it hit me that YOU already help me define brand growth online by listing me on twitter! And by-golly I am who you think I am!
I love ya man! You all make me better! I am not worthy! Bacon Rules! Here is a sample of followers who have Listed me on Twitter!

yay. This is great. I came across my first HR Evolution bacon badge the other day and thought of you. I might just have to write a PUSU for 2011 but I kinda did a couple months ago.
I like you have decided to be the ambassador for other HR people with regard to social media. I’m working with SHRM to help influence and engage their more than 250,000 audience base among other projects. The ship is turning, although slowly but I do believe that people like you are making the difference.
Someday we should talk about HRbacon.com. I currently have it re-directly to blogging4jobs. Someday it will become something. . . .

My SHRM membership expires in a few months and I’m already thinking about whether to renew. My local chapter requires national membership but I can explore other options.
I haven’t been commenting on others’ blogs as much recently as in the past, but your post inspires me to do more. And hey, if you’re looking for blogs to comment on, you can comment on mine anytime!

Thanks Jessica and Krista- though as an ambassador I need to check and approve my blog comments more often. Yikes! Thanks for reading. Hey Jessica- there is always April in Atlanta!
